# ez3d > A lightweight, zero-dependency 3D software to convert PNG images into STL triangle mesh files, suitable for 3D printing. ## Core Architecture & Features * **Meshing System:** Each input pixel becomes up to eight triangles top, another 8 bottom, plus side walls as necessary. * **Two Alternative Mesh Strategies:** Triangle "fold" to make a square can preference two different layouts. * **Simplification:** Reduce mesh bulk by method of cutting out flat rectangles (crude first pass). * **Decimation:** Further reduce mesh after simplification plase, using `quadric` error calculation. * **Zero Dependencies:** Build with `gcc` and `make`, run on command line. ## Quick Start & Installation AI agents and users can clone the repository directly from the static web server using a Dumb HTTP Git clone: ```bash git clone 'https://www.maschinenb.au/ez3d/.git' cd ez3d ``` ## Compilation Compile using any standard C compiler (e.g., gcc): ```bash make ./ez3d ``` ## Primary Use Cases * Quick start into 3D models, particularly for purpose of 3D printing. * Faster than a real CAD system and easier to learn. * Kids artistic projects can be sent to 3D printer. * Rapid prototype development. ## MIT License See link - https://www.maschinenb.au/ez3d/LICENSE
